About Gruezo Fitness Systems

Randy Gruezo
Hi, I'm Randy Gruezo.
I'm a New York City based trainer with over 20 years of experience. I work with an extremely wide range of clients: from law firm partners, C-Level Executives, to doctors, architects, stay at home parents, to my eldest son.
The common denominator with all of my clients is they are overworked, yet are committed to having fitness and health integrated into their demanding lifestyle.
My ideal client is someone with a goal in mind, a positive and flexible mindset, and readiness to put in some challenging work. Everyone comes with different needs and desires. My training programs reflect and are tailored to these individual differences. Here is a brief insight into my fitness philosophy that applies to everyone:
- Strategies over Tactics. It doesn’t require much skill and sophistication to design a workout filled with the latest “fitness influencer” exercises to get you sore beyond all recognition, sweating and panting as if you’re running away from a rabid dog. And you’re doing all this for what? My clients will tell you the numerous times they've heard me say, "there’s always a rhyme and reason for what I have you do.” My programs are designed to have you progressively improve upon your movement skill and training capacity to reach your goals. They all require hard work and focused effort, because change is not always sunshine and rainbows.
- Training should be safe with appropriate exercise selection and programming. Goes without saying, however, I cringe at some of the workouts and exercises I see. Results are a product of consistent hard work over time. It's kinda hard to be consistent when you’re always hurt and dealing with nagging issues. I’m speaking from experience, as I’ve had to deal with numerous injuries from living an active lifestyle; from tearing my labrum in one shoulder and dislocating the other, to dealing with lower back, hip, and foot pains. Overcoming these issues provides me the insight to create joint friendly training programs which ensure outstanding results and provide insurance against future injuries.
- It has to be fun, AND get results period. Too many trainers and programs I see out there focus more on what I call fitness-tainment. The workouts and exercises look cool, environment is awesome with fancy lights and a great music playlist. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that at all if your goal is to just get a good workout. However, RESULTS are what you want, correct? The programs I create utilize time tested and effective training principles. The application of these principles are always dynamic and fluid, so you don’t feel like you’re in a hamster wheel doing the same thing over and over. You get results and have fun in the process. Fun, is one of my four pillars of continued success (see Wheel of Success below).
- The program works…if you do. I can design the greatest fitness and nutrition program in the world, but if you don’t put in the effort and execute it properly there is nothing I can do for you. You can lead a horse to the watering hole, but can’t force it to drink. That’s all that needs to be said on this.
I created ‘The Success Wheel’ to further summarize my training philosophy:
In addition to my private training business, I’m also passionate about education. I’ve worked as an adjunct professor in a top Exercise Science program in NYC educating the next wave of future fitness and health care professionals, mentored current fitness professionals, and creating content for digital outlets.
In my down time when I’m not doing fitnessy stuff (yes I said it LOL) you can find me attempting to be a bourbon connoisseur, walking aimlessly around New York City, practicing filipino martial arts, binge watching past Law and Order: SVU episodes, any Gordon Ramsay series, and any Bravo Channel reality television series (can’t believe I’m admitting this LMAO). I know, I know guilty as charged.
